Speaker of the House John Boehner didn’t give the President the courtesy of a congratulatory call; instead he issued a line in the sand and an implied threat. Bipartisan–or bully? In his party, he is the defender of the orthodox faith: taxes are bad and special interests come before the people’s will.
President Obama received 9 million fewer votes on Tuesday than he did 4 years ago. Even with a 13% shrinkage in his totals he only lost 2 states he carried in 2008, Indiana and North Carolina. The GOP lost more than 2 million votes from 2008 despite their $2 billion investment. Why didn’t it pay off?
