As My World Turns

This map is somewhat different than the state map – it is by counties and also shades for percent for parties!  You can clearly see where and why President Obama won.   What I find interesting is that in Texas where Hispanics are quickly becoming the majority – could actually become a swing state within a decade!  Note the many shades of blue around the southern border as well as major cities.  One can also see that  most of the southern states could also become swing states as well.

Very interesting!

Shalefield Action Camp Stands Up for Small Farms

Earth First! Newswire

Cross Posted from Pittsburgh Gazette

More than 50 residents from Bessemer, Pa. and members of the Shadbush Environmental Justice Collective have joined together today to protest gas drilling that is underway 4,000 ft. from a local woman’s farm.

Maggie Henry, who raises organic eggs, poultry and pork, fears that the Shell gas well will hurt her business and animals. She has gone to the state Environmental Hearing Board to challenge Shell’s permit, but her lawyers from the University of Pittsburgh law clinic decided not to take the case.

This action comes on the heels of a weekend-long training held on the Henry property.  Organized by Pittsburgh-based Shadbush Environmental Justice, the Shalefield Justice Action Camp brought together over 80 organizers from across the Marcellus and Utica shale regions to share skills and strategies in community organizing and  non-violent direct action to combat fracking and other forms of harmful resource extraction.

Article…Dear conservatives: The right-wing media machine betrayed you.
Dear angry white conservatives who are mourning Mitt Romney’s loss…If Fox News is any indication, many of you are dismayed, upset, and befuddled by Mitt Romney’s loss to President Obama. Some of these feelings are normal. Politics is tribal. When your team loses, a bit of sadness is expected.

However, some white folks are acting out in some very unhealthy ways. Young white conservatives participated in a near riot at the University of Mississippi, where they hurled rocks at bystanders, used racial slurs, and burned Obama and Biden campaign signs. Other angry white folks used the Internet to  send out racist messages and pictures on Twitter  as an act of protest and anger at the country’s re-election of its first Black president. I believe that these events are malicious outliers.

Many white people who voted…

aisha north

This day will bring with in many unprecedented instances, as the sun is once again being very helpful in delivering the messages we want her to convey. You see, the floodgates have started to open, if we may use such a word to describe the fact that now, the rain of energy over you planet will increase to such an extent it will at times be difficult to keep your heads above the water.

Let us explain. As many of you are aware, you are approaching the timeline many see as a divide between the old and the new, and even if some also think of it as the end of everything, the former is so much more true than the latter. For your world is not coming to an end, far from it. Rather, it is finally gearing up to start anew. In other words, the systems churning themselves…
