Dear readers,

On January 1st, 2014, people across the country gathered to mark 20 years of resistance to NAFTA–the North American Free Trade Agreement–which has displacedthousands of workers, depressed wages, and weakened unions from Canada to Mexico.

Here at the Media Co-op, we’re braving the crunch of those neo-liberal economic policies to continue our coverage of all the hard-scrabble social movements that don’t stop fighting for a more just world.

Right now our latest issue of The Dominion, hot off the press, is arriving at doorsteps throughout the country. Don’t miss it!

Now, on to our Month in Review

December in Review

Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s first black president and a leader in the country’s decades-long anti-apartheid movement, died on December 5th at the age of 95.

Stephen Harper and former prime ministers Jean Chrétien, Kim Campbell and Brian Mulroney visited South Africa to pay their solemn respects–and, some say, to gloss over their own sketchy history of support for anti-apartheid struggles.

In 1989, Harper was a member of Northern Foundation, which pressured the Mulroney government to withdraw its support for theanti-apartheid movement, which at the time was fighting to have Nelson Mandela released from prison. Montreal’s CKUT radio interviewed Noam Chomsky on the legacy of Mandela.

Canada implemented Bill C-31, new immigration legislation which migrant justice organizers are calling the Refugee Exclusion Act. Among other things, the bill increases the number of migrants who will face mandatory detention upon arrival in Canada.

In Vancouver, Coast Salish Territories, No One Is Illegal celebrated and reflected on ten years of migrant justice organizing.

In Lindsay, near Toronto, No One Is Illegalrallied outside the maximum-security Central East Correctional Centre, where as many as 191 migrants had been on strike since September 17th. In what may be the largestmigrant prison strike in Canadian history, two detainees went without food for 65 days.

About forty people occupied the offices of Quebec education minister Marie Malavoy as part of Solidarity Across Borders’ “Education For All” campaign to give non-status childrenaccess to primary and secondary education in Quebec. Currently, children must provide proof of status in order to obtain a permanent code, without which their families face bills of up to $6000 per year to access the public education system.

Quebec’s National Assembly adopted a new Mining Act after approving a motion to limit debate on the bill. The Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador (AFNQL) has threatened a legal challenge to the new law, which they say fails to require adequate consultation with First Nations.

The Barriere Lake First Nation established aland protection camp within the La Verendrye Wildlife Reserve to protest clear-cut logging on sensitive areas of their land. In response, Quebec’s Ministry of Natural Resources has agreed to respect a previously negotiated process to harmonize forestry operations with the community’s traditional activities.

The Nova Scotia Fracking Resource and Action Coalition, worried about problems with the province’s review of hydraulic fracturing, sent a letter to the province’s new Liberal premier Stephen McNeil and the ministers of energy and environment. The HMC interviewed David Wheeler, the man at the helm of the controversial review.

Residents in Harrietsfield, Nova Scotia, found contamination in their wells connected to nearby construction waste processing–yet the Halifax Regional Municipality has continued to license the dirty operation.

On the other side of the country, the National Energy Board (NEB) approved Enbridge’sNorthern Gateway pipeline proposal to transport tar sands oil across northern BC to the coast for export. The Unist’ot’en clan of the Wet’suwet’en nation vowed to continue to defend their traditional territories, saying that they will not remove their camp and gateway which stand in the path of the proposed pipeline.

The Tsleil-Waututh Nation said in a press release that the NEB’s pipeline approval process is deeply flawed. This same process will now be used to evaluate Kinder Morgan’s 15,000-page Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion application.

In Vancouver, the Santas of Anarchy delivered bags of coal to the offices of Port Metro Vancouver. Spokespeople from Rising Tide said that the port authority has been very “naughty” with its Fraser Surrey Docks expansion plan, which aims to make the port into the continent’s largest coal exporter. Port Metro Vancouver released a statement callingthe visit “violent” and saying that the bags contained an “unknown substance.”

SaLuSa 3 January 2014 Mike Quinsey

We join you at an exciting time as you enter the vibrations of a New Year. Across the world there is anticipation of a coming time that brings wonderful changes. They are going to be ones that will give a clear signal that a new era has got under way. Outwardly the chaos would still seem to be present, yet it is clearing to reveal long awaited changes. It is now a time of taking opportunities as they present themselves, to reveal the new way of bringing people together so that harmony can be restored. Love will become seen as the energy that will remove all traces of the old ones that have held you back for millennia of time.

Throughout your world cleansing is taking place, and the old energies are slowly being dissipated as they no longer serve any purpose. They will soon be unable to interfere with the changes that are taking place, that will show you beyond doubt that the new era is here to stay. For quite a long time you have been promised major changes, and the work that has been done to bring them about is now going to bear fruit. This year will mark the turning point in many lives, and there will be no doubt in your minds that the days of the cabal are numbered. They know it and are ready to concede defeat, but there are always certain individuals that know no other way than to fight to the bitter end.

There will be many revelations that will help clear up some of the questions you have, and indicate the new path to the Light that is opening up. Be assured that all of the necessary changes are in hand that will ensure your future. The parting of the ways has never been more clear, and for many souls it is a time of decision affecting their future. We send our love to all those that are not ready to move into the Light. Each one treads the path they have set up for themselves, and go with our blessings as they experience exactly what is necessary for their progress.

It is no wonder that your history is full of encounters between people of different beliefs, as at times they clash because they have not found the common land between them. However, time is on their side and they can take as long as they like on their way to completion. Outside of your dimension time does not exist as you know it, All is in the Now. It means that you can go back in “time” and even into the future although it is a projection of all possibilities. You will realise that once you leave the “time” dimension, it will no longer be the way that you will account for your actions or experiences. You will be free without constraints providing you understand that you must not interfere with another souls journey, but can help if so requested.

Dear Ones, your journey through Duality as you know it is almost at an end, and it will become easier to put distance between yourselves and the old vibrations. You will be surprised at how quickly you will be able set aside your old memories of your lives in Duality. The joy and happiness that you will feel in the higher vibrations will be far more exhilarating and satisfying than any earlier experience. Many of you are still weighed down by the old ones, and will need to lift yourselves up out of them to ensure smooth and ongoing progress.

You are in exciting times and have spent many lives preparing for such an occasion as now. You knew that you would be ready to take a great leap forward, and now you have a great future ahead of you. Many will eventually return to their home planet having completed their time in the lower dimensions. The experience that they have gained will then be shared with others so as to benefit the whole. Some have become so insular having spent so long on Earth, that they have almost forgotten that life abounds everywhere in the Universe. There is so much to see and so much to do, that you will never tire of having new experiences.

Your eyes are being opened to the understand that you are great Beings, and are destined to regain all of your chakras and suppressed abilities. Only then will you understand the potential of a fully developed Being moving in the higher dimensions. At present you are being prepared for a great leap forward. It will return you to a state that you were in prior to your journey through the lower dimensions.

These are very testing times for you, but with your experience you should be able to move through them with ease. Follow your intuition if you feel any doubt and you surely will not go wrong. Remember that many souls are experiencing your journey through you, and at the same time helping you where they can. Remember also that your Guides do not interfere in your life unless asked to do so. They will however use their influence to point you in the right direction at all times.

I am SaLuSa, and ask you to be ready to accept the changes and give help to those who may not be so well informed. We are with you and giving of our love and blessings for a successful journey.

Thank you SaLuSa,

Mike Quinsey.

SaLuSa and Higher Self Connection from Now on — Multidimensional Ocean – YouTube

Thank you Laura! Not sure how I missed this but it is a very important message so want to share it with all of you now.

Multidimensional Ocean

(please listen to the audio recording if you can for the complete message)

Update on Channeled Messages:

I am receiving more and more information from the Higher Realms, and at a faster and faster speed. I find that speaking and doing recordings allows me to say more than writing information down. People also feel a higher benefit from the voice frequency.

I will of course continue with written work as well, but will still do more audio recordings than before.

As a matter of fact I had agreed to do channeled work only until the 21st Dec. 2012 with SaLuSa and with other Ascended beings. I will still receive messages from above, but only when they contact me themselves, not the other way around.

I was even asked to stop my Aurora dreamflight messages in fact. The reason for that is to encourage people to receive…

Message from Laura’s Guides – 3 Jan. 2013

Thank you Laura! I have also noticed recently that in conversations with others that I often am receiving their meanings telepathically just before they speak. This became noticeable to me when people I was listening to forgot the word they wanted to use and paused or mentioned searching for the word-which I then supplied since they had already sent it to me:-) This has also made understanding meanings easier as I *feel* tge person’s intentions with their words which helps make less misunderstanding which imho is especially common in English as the language is lacking in multiple areas.

Multidimensional Ocean

telepathic-peopleHi guys!
I usually receive daily updates during my day, either during meditation, or just while I do house jobs, or walk, or sometimes out of the blue in any situation.
The updates are usually about a deeper question that I have wondered about, or asked my Higher Self, or my guides.
Today’s message was about reality and the subconscious of humans.
The message said that whatever we wish to communicate to others, no matter the distance, we can visualize or tell them through telepathy.

New Moon Phase: begin, intend, initiate, set a wish or intention

Moon: Aquarius

Ruling Mahavidya: Kali

AUDIO RECORDING 12/31/2013 – Gregorian New Year – New Ruling Mahavidya – KALI (copy and paste the link)

The first of two lunar months where we re-examine, revise, and rectify situations continues today, with the added theme of “permanence.” Our considerations lean toward what will be long-lasting or long-standing.

A major part of re-examination, revision, and rectification involves the willingness to change. Sometimes great pressure must be applied in order for us to change. We are exceptionally resistant because we are, as a collective, traumatized. But energetics are in place this month where we are, as a collective, undergoing healing.

The most significant, efficient, and long-lasting form of healing takes place through nature – through connection with the planet. This is easiest to do when we are actually outside or at least looking at nature from indoors. But the goal is to maintain that connection or awareness all the time. The root of our consciousness is grounded with the planet and we swim in her currents whether we are indoors or outdoors because she is everywhere.

Knowledge of this fact alleviates a good deal of the anxiety and fear (same things) that surrounds changes. No matter where we go, what we do, or what happens, we are always enconsced in her currents – her life. So we are safe to follow the changes no matter where they take us. And we can take comfort in knowing that these changes are divinely timed and plotted.

The word “change” is not entirely accurate with this month’s energy. It is change that is trans formative. This month could be called a transformation point in time. When you hear the word “change” what do you feel inside? How does your heart feel? Does hearing the word “transformation” feel different?

For most people, change stimulates immediate feelings of angst. Transformation, however, evokes magical hopefulness. If we only had an influence from Uranus this month, we would just have change. But since we have Pluto, and it is most definitely his show this month, we have transformation – deep, lasting transformation.

Things are so deep and long-lasting today that they are carved in stone. What do you want to carve into the energy today?

Educate in resistance: the autonomous Zapatista schools

Thank you for posting this. My readers may wonder at my sharing so much on the Zapatistas. This is because so many in the “new age” and in various groups working toward positive changes in modern society are seeking better ways to solve human problems.

Imho, Zapatistas are one of the best models of
communities creating solutions to modern problems
that are firmly rooted in ancestral cultural traditions.

We have seen the ecological, spiritual and social dead ends that modern/post modern society leads us to thru its insistence on discarding ancestral cultures and their deep knowledge and traditions.

The cultures that survive the longest are those who are both adaptable to changes ( such as climate changes) while being strongly rooted in the land and the wisdom in living on the land and with one another that was earned thru many generations.

In the modern world very few have recovered enough from colonization to model these traits as well and clearly as I perceive the Zapatistas to do. At least not in easily accessible media forms-tho peoples from Africa, India, New Zealand, north and south America are all doing similarly wonderful things.

Just as we watched our parents and elder siblings to learn as children so to can we in the most heavily controlled modern societies watch our elder cultures in recovery from colonization in order to learn how we too can recover and return to sanity.

The Zapatistas are also interesting for doing these feats of cultural transformation with the colonizer actively opposing them in many cases with violence.

So we can see that it CAN be done.

Some new agers believe thst the Mayan people were taken in spaceships-there’s a whole mythology about this which spawns a drive to follow them to the stars.

Imho, the REAL Mayan people are much more fascinating and instructive to follow than the mythic spacefarers.

The Zapatistas are leading the way into the real “new age” the one where the people of Earth return to living sustainable lives in richly cultured, joyful free communities.

I’ve been praying for them since I read the first communique in 94? (I think). I am grateful to see how well their communities have survived and how their example has continually inspired so many of us in “first world” nations despite their isolation.

Courage is contagious. Lets make it a worldwide epidemic! 🙂

Post image for Educate in resistance: the autonomous Zapatista schools

Zapatista education crosses wide areas of alternative knowledge and being, and offers a space where collective knowledge is aimed at social transformation.

The first surprise when you get to the Zapatista community of Cintalapa is the contrast between the beauty of the Lacandon Jungle and the Mexican federal army checkpoint, set up outside the ejido.

For the Zapatista children it seems normal that their little bags are reviewed at the checkpoint, or that they are asked questions when they go to the fields with their parents. They have lived through this their entire lives. The adolescent girls seem to be upset that the soldiers look up and down or yell things at them. So the lives of children in the Zapatista territory of tseltales remain full of contradictions.

These are children living between resistance and death, children who…

EZLN: Rewind 1- When the dead silently speak out

Thank you for posting this. I’m finding the blog commentary on articles far more interesting and important than the repetitive drone of the mainstream attempts to corral our minds back into the desolate pens they’ve built.
Tho I might never have even seen the articles, the creative, informative responses make their inanity useful at least for having inspired these.
