I moved this review to the top because I find it disturbing that as usual the poorest people on Earth are already paying with their lives in some cases for the privilege enjoyed by the wealthiest while at the same time hordes of people in the wealthiest nations continue to deny the reality of human assisted climate change.
How can we claim we are ascending spiritually and growing into Oneness while this is happening?
Spiritual people of all traditions should be at the forefront of struggles to end fossil fuel dependence and implement the variety of available tools to sequester carbon using natures extant systems.
Seriously, *screw* carbon tax! I think we need to outright ban ALL toxic products from bee killing pesticides and the home use Agent Orange (Round-up) to endocrine disruptors in household cleaners and just plain ration carbon emissions until the sequestration efforts are effective.
Leaving all subsistence activities such as household wood burning fireplace/stoves out of course-its the industrial uses from shipping and mining to power plants and transportation that are the bulk of the problem.

Darwin Bond Graham and Ali Winston, Truthout: “Predictive policing,” a new high-tech method by which police crunch crime statistics and other data with algorithms to divine when and where future crimes are most likely to occur, is seen to expand the militarization – including contractor profiteering – and racialization of police work.
The Culling of the American Herd
Karen Garcia, Truthout: When a Danish zoo killed a baby giraffe to cull its confined herd, coverage by mainstream media was widespread. A Harvard/CUNY report released around the same time predicting that as many as 17,000 Americans may die as a result of some states refusing to expand their Medicaid programs under Obamacare, has received little attention.

The Daily Take, The Thom Hartmann Program: As the reality of legalized marijuana inches closer and closer every day, more and more Americans are rethinking our society’s attitude toward drugs. But not the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

Harriet Fraad, Truthout: Michael Kimmel’s new popular recognition of white American male rage, Angry White Men, describes the fury of white American men who have been cast out of their dominant roles within the economy, the family and personal life.

School Board Candidates Backed by Koch-Connected Nonprofit
Rachel Baye, The Center for Public Integrity: The difference between an issue ad and a political ad may seem indecipherable to the average viewer, but when it comes to what a nonprofit can and can’t do with its money, state and federal laws make a critical distinction.
