Thank you for posting this. It is very disturbing that the government of Mexico allows or possibly even encourages and promotes the murder of Zapatista teachers by School of the Americas style death squads.
It is disturbing but it is not actually surprising at this time.
The fascist neoliberal agenda of corporations and the 1% is falling apart. No amount of money, murder and mayhem can return it’s former power.
The Zapatista movement represents the clearest, most widely known example of a viable alternative system or worldview.
The indigenist perspective of the Zapatistas is very appealing to many people because it is rooted in love, respect, community and responsibility instead of greed, violence, power over and trauma like the colonized worldview that dominates most of the “first world” countries.
Horizontalist movements like the Zapatistas are the way of the future; the old world order has proven itself not only oppressive and miserable for the majority, but also incompetent at managing a planet.
My prayers are with the Zapatistas, especially those who were close to the murdered person. The political doesn’t get much more personal than the murders of loved ones and while their movement and their courage have been an inspiration to millions of us across the Earth, their loss and pain is deeply personal. I hope that everyone who cares about our world will join me in bith praying for them and in taking actions of solidarity and support to remind the Mexican government and everyone behind this that we are many and they are few. We will not stand for any more disappeared, nor any more death squads and widespread terror. The world is watching Chiapas, Mexico.
