Reconceiving Change in the Age of Parasitic Capitalism
C.J. Polychroniou, Truthout: Massive economic damage and human suffering resulting from the 2008 financial crisis continue unabated, while the implications of this crisis continue to elude us, as many people remain in the grip of neoliberal orthodoxy and refuse to acknowledge the need for large scale economic, social and political change.
“Workers Are Constantly on the Edge of the Knife”
Amy B. Dean, Truthout: Rep. George Miller talks about the inequities associated with just-in-time scheduling, especially problematic for the 7.5 million part-time workers who say they wish to have full-time positions, and the attempt to right them with the Schedules That Work Act.
A Moment of Restorative Justice
Jean Trounstine, The Rag Blog: While the US criminal justice system offers revenge as its principal method of restitution, families may find better solutions for achieving remorse and true rehabilitation. The formal practice of restorative justice “emphasizes repairing the harm caused by crime,” and teaches how to do that.

The Gentrification of Birmingham, Alabama
William C. Anderson, Truthout: Birmingham’s “50 Years Forward” campaign – and the way in which the city capitalizes on its civil rights history – gloss over the gentrification, structural racism and economic injustice that continue to plague the city.

New Study: Proposition 47 Would Help California Address Overcrowded Prisons
Ngoc Nguyen and Nicole Hudley, New America Media: A measure on the November ballot would reclassify six nonviolent felonies to misdemeanors, a move that observers say could help California finally comply with a federal mandate to reduce its overcrowded prison system.
Migrant Farmworkers Find Paths Out of Poverty Through Incubator Farms
Lisa Gale Garrigues, YES! Magazine: The Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association in Salinas, California, is one of a growing number of “incubator farms” across the United States dedicated to training the next generation of farmers. The farms help seasonal workers start their own businesses, where they get better pay and the support of a community.

Bombing at a Press Conference Beats Mindlessly Flexing Military Might
Emily Schwartz Greco and William A. Collins, OtherWords: The latest conservative fad is beating up President Barack Obama for being too squeamish about exerting military force. The Republicans he defeated in 2008 and 2012 are prime examples.

I love today’s photo! It is probably on Anna Maria island as there aren’t too many beaches left on the west coast here that have forest. Though it could be further south, Fort DeSoto, Caladesi Island or Egmont Key. Either way it’s wonderful to see this image and imagine our coast as it was before condos and resorts took over.
I wish humans could adopt Elven city aesthetics-ie all you see is nature. The buildings are built as integral parts of the land and forest rather than utterly destroying everything in order to plop a few ugly squared off buildings in the middle of loads of ugly squared off parking lots.
But that will likely have to wait until more humans have woken up and released their programming, and irrational fear of trees.:-/
Still, it’s beautiful to imagine! đ
Blessings,

Disseminating Moon Phase: share
Moon in Gemini
Ruling Mahavidya: Shodashi (Goddess Who Brings Our Highest Desires) and Matangi (Goddess of the Wind)
Skill: be receptive to messages, information, and changes
Negative Imprint: plunging into situations without thought of consequence, the need to be noticed through showing off, inflexible, control, attempts to extinguish light
Positive Imprint: truth, skillful navigation, faith, courage, psychic sensitivity, downloads from Spirit
What’s on the wind today? Matangi, Wisdom Goddess who is the Goddess of the Wind, is close at hand, whispering words that sweep through our souls. Spiritual parts of us want to come into conscious expression, so it is important to be listening to the inner voice today.
Many different messages, information, and changes are delivered today. Mercury is in opposition to Uranus, bringing these messages, information, and changes swiftly – often shockingly or out of the blue and in the form of rejections. The Moon’s transit through Gemini magnifies these themes. When Uranus is involved, we are ALWAYS saved by our rejections. Shodashi uses Uranus’ influence of change to divert our course back toward what is in line with the best interests of our souls. This line always leads us closer to home.
This energy brings the tendency to act impulsively, but the wisdom is to “sit” with the impulses (or messages, information, or changes) for a bit to give us time to understand the motivation and depth involved.
Control issues are heightened today. The highest expression of this theme is self-mastery, so direct any feelings of needing to control toward yourself. When Mercury and Uranus are in opposition, people’s views and words can clash. Things come out of our mouths before we know it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but respect is paramount.
The position of Venus today, “a bride with her veil snatched away” will bring many things to light. Veils that mask truth are torn off. This contributes to the shock factor that is so pronounced with the day’s energy.
Listen closely to your inner voice today and let Matangi’s winds guide you along the coastline. The way is shown.
