Thank you for sharing this! Many of us have suspected this for years but having the solid proof is so helpful. Months after tge main bulk of Occupy action was over the story leaked about the very real program to assassinate “leaders ” of Occupy groups. I put leaders in quotes because Occupy is a horizontalist movement in which everyone is a leader and hierarchy is not highly respected. Those of us who spoke to the media, created web sites and facebook pages or otherwise became “known” knew we were targeted. It was discussed online and in local groups especially after several Occupiers were seriously injured. But as anyone in activism long knows paranoia is used against us and is all too easy to fall into so we tried to ignore it. But when the mainstream news reported the leaked reports it was both vindicating and disturbing.
The entrenched power structure is desperate and they have never had qualms about ANY level or kind of harm or murder done to eliminate those who oppose them. The good thing is there are so many of us mow that short of nukes or bioweapons they literally cannot get rid of us all:-) So the old COINTELPRO tactics of disinformation, threats, smears, and entrapment are common.
when we love and accept everyone who is working for change even when theur methods or ideas differ from ours (ie my Occupy group welcomed Tea Party and tried to get beyond ideological differences) then we take away their strongest weapon against us-divide and conquer.
Love is always stronger than hate and this is one reason why. Love has no fear of the other.
We all deal with these attacks differently. Most of us just ignore them, some of us can’t deal with the negativity, retreat into isolation and stop doing the work.
